The Introductory Pistol course begins with firearm safety, terminology, function (to include assembly after disassembly), and operation, all done in a classroom environment. Marksmanship fundamentals and basic firearms handling skills will be covered in the practical environment of the range. Initial performance and practice of the basic skills will be accomplished through dry practice, followed by live fire evolutions performed to evaluate the level of retention and performance. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to safely handle and operate their firearms, and have a better understanding of the direction needing to be taken to further improve and advance their skill if they so choose. This one day (8 hr.) class fulfils many state requirements for concealed carry permits.

Practical Pistol

Practical Pistol builds on the basic foundation laid during Introductory Pistol. It begins with a review of safety, function, operation, marksmanship fundamental and basic firearm handling skills covered in Introductory Pistol. The curriculum then takes the participants to topics including positions (performed during “utilizing” cover), reloads, clearing malfunctions, multiple round engagements, multiple target engagements and recoil management. Upon successful completion of this class, participants will have a much deeper understanding of the skills necessary to successfully use their firearm during a self-defense situation.

Tactical Pistol

Tactical Pistol builds off of the skills learned during Intermediate Pistol and focuses on refining those skill sets with more repetitions in scenario based training. There is a major jump in mindset and techniques when progressing from basic fundamentals into combat fundamentals, and these differences will be made clear and reinforced during this class. The two major Tactical skills sets added during this course will be, shooting (and performing weapons handling skills) while moving, and engaging moving targets. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be more proficient and confident in the application of these tactical techniques.

Illinois Concealed Carry

This program fulfills the course objectives required by the State of Illinois to obtain and possess a concealed firearms carriage permit throughout Illinois.  The curriculum includes Illinois State law to include use of force, firearms safety and familiarization (including terminology and operation). During the live fire portion of the training, participants will perform the Illinois mandatory pistol qualification course. Upon successful completion, all criteria will have been met to obtain an Illinois concealed carry permit.

*Military and law enforcement (active or former) only require 8 hours of instruction (1 day).
